Apple IT concierge for principals, families and family offices · New York

Macs, phones, Wi-Fi, cameras, the theater, the integrators.

Nobody in the house has to think about any of it.

Ten years as one private household's entire technology department. Twenty years of Apple-focused support before that.

6:40 am · The study An imagined room. The real ones stay private.

The work, hour by hour

One day, six rooms.

Every room below is imagined. The work in it is real, and it comes from ten years inside one private household and twenty before that.

An imagined study before dawn: a desk lamp on, a closed laptop and a phone charging, the Empire State Building in the window

Everything works before anyone is awake.

Macs, iPhones and iPads for the family and the staff, plus the accounts, access and backups behind them. I set them up, fix them and keep them current, so the first email of the day simply opens.

An imagined technology closet in a townhouse hallway: a small rack with neatly tagged patch cables in morning light

02 of 06 · 9:30 am · The network closet

Wi-Fi that reaches the far end of every house.

The network across residences, from the rack in the closet to the camera at the gate. When DNS, DHCP or the VPN misbehave, I find out why, and the cameras and door access that ride on top keep working.

  • Wi-Fi and network
  • Multiple residences
  • Cameras and door access
  • DNS, DHCP, VPN
"Has always been able to find solutions to those strange network problems."

An imagined apartment renovation: open wall studs with coiled, tagged network and speaker cable at each future outlet

Decide the cabling before the walls close.

On a renovation I'm the technology stakeholder. I scope structured cabling, network and AV before the drywall goes up, and I manage the integrators, low-voltage crews and contractors behind them.

Wheels up at six. Everything already works.

I hold a valid passport and travel with or ahead of the principal when the role calls for it. The laptop, the phone, the chargers and the accounts are sorted before the car leaves, and the next house is ready for their devices.

An imagined private screening room at night, velvet chairs lit only by the film on the screen

The film starts on the first try.

The theater, the whole-house audio, the lights and the shades come from different vendors and have to act like one system. I troubleshoot what the principal actually sees, brief the integrator accurately, and stay on it until it works.

Late at night, the answer is calm.

Something breaks at the worst possible hour. I pick up, explain it in plain language, fix what can be fixed tonight, and follow up in the morning to make sure it held.

The part nobody sees.

How an estate runs on one system

An example estate: every system wired back to one room and run by one Crestron processor, and where AI helps. I brief the programmer and coordinate every vendor. I don't program the system myself.

  1. Everything runs back to one room. Lighting, shades, climate, audio and video, cameras, gates and the pool are all wired back to the equipment room.
  2. One processor runs it all. A Crestron processor, programmed by a certified integrator, talks to every system. Keypads, touch panels and phones control all of it.
  3. One touch, the whole house. Good night, from the bedside keypad: lights off, shades down, doors locked, cameras armed, heat set back.
  4. The house reports in. Every device checks in around the clock. When one goes quiet, an alert goes out. Here, the gate camera at 2:14 AM.
  5. AI spots the pattern, a person decides. AI reads every alert and log, notices what keeps happening and drafts the service ticket. I check it before anything is sent.

How it works

Notes and follow-up

Intake notes, checklists, service tracking and follow-up routines I built for private-client work.

Every open issue has an owner and a next step, and the handoff is written down.

    What I won't pretend

I support devices that live under Jamf and Kandji and work with the people who run them. I haven't administered a Jamf fleet.

I brief the Crestron programmer accurately and stay on it until it works. I don't program the system myself.

I use AI for research, documentation and media checks. A person reviews every result.
