New York City · 2007, Present

One obsession.
Eighteen years.

What began as one person's compulsion to understand every corner of every Apple device quietly became the city's most trusted concierge IT practice. built entirely on discretion, precision, and an unreasonable standard of care.

The obsession begins

The iPhone launched. The MacBook Pro was reimagined. And somewhere in New York City, Farshad Foroudi had already taken both apart to understand exactly how they worked, not because he had to, but because he couldn't not. His friends noticed. They started handing him their broken Macs. He didn't charge them. He just fixed them right.

"Most people fix the symptom. I needed to understand the system. Why did it fail? What stress caused it? How do I make sure it never happens again?"

That compulsion, to understand completely before acting, would become the founding principle of everything that followed.

Word travels quietly

New York has a way of spreading reputations without a single advertisement. An attorney on the Upper East Side. A hedge fund analyst in Midtown. A creative director in Soho. Each one referred the next, not because NYCMacGuru was cheap, but because he was discreet. He came to your office, fixed what was broken, and left without disrupting the room.

These were not clients who wanted to explain IT problems to a helpdesk ticket system. They wanted someone who already understood their world and could operate inside it invisibly.

The concierge model takes shape

By 2012 it was clear: this wasn't an IT support business. It was something closer to what a hotel concierge does. except for technology. Clients didn't call to open a ticket. They called because they had a problem and needed it handled, now, correctly, without drama. That expectation became the operating standard.

"Concierge IT means you call once. I know your setup. I know your calendar. I know what matters. The problem gets solved before it becomes a crisis."

Certifications, earned relentlessly

The obsession extended to credentials. Not because clients demanded them. They already trusted the work. But the credentials demanded the obsessive study that was worth doing anyway. ACMT. ACSP. ACTC. ACSA. JAMF 200 and 300. Each certification forced a deeper understanding of the systems being serviced daily.

By 2015, NYCMacGuru held more active Apple certifications than most IT departments of 30 people. That knowledge asymmetry became the most valuable thing offered to clients who worked in high-stakes environments where downtime was not a cost of doing business. It was a threat to the business itself.

Discretion as a feature

Over a decade in, the profile of the typical client had clarified completely. Partners at law firms. Founders and C-suite executives. Media personalities. High-net-worth individuals who couldn't afford. in any sense. to have their technology become a liability. For them, discretion isn't a nice-to-have. It's a prerequisite.

"I have never discussed a client with another client. I never will. What happens in your office stays in your office. That's not policy, it's character."

This commitment attracted clients who had tried enterprise IT providers and found them impersonal, slow, and indifferent to the specific weight of their concerns. NYC Mac Guru represented the alternative: a small, curated team of senior specialists — all fully accountable, with a stake in the outcome, and no junior engineers in the rotation.

Today

Eighteen years. The same standard.

The practice has grown. The client list spans every industry that New York leads in. The certification wall has 20 credentials on it. Our team brings deep, specialized expertise across Mac infrastructure, network engineering, enterprise MDM, data architecture, and mobile device management. The response time has never meaningfully changed.
